Polish adaptive cycle manufacturer Sport-On recently announced that they will be producing a new type of handcycle. A recumbent three wheeled handcycle is nothing new, but this new offering from Sport-On has a unique feature. Named the Quantum, this handcycle has an articulating rear that allows the rider to lean the bike into turns and on off camber trails like a traditional two wheeled bike. This is the same concept that makes the Bowhead Reach and RX stand apart from the rest in cornering and downhill capability. In the case of the Quantum, the articulation happens at the rear of the bike instead of the front on the Bowhead. From the renderings, you can see that the width between the rear wheels is considerably more narrow than any other delta handcycle. This will make it far better for riding narrow single track trails, but might make it more difficult for riders with less or no trunk control.

We can’t wait to see the real world performance of this handcycle when they start shipping to the public.
