Therefore\, we give people with physical disabilities access to the life-changing impact of adventure sports like rock climbing\, kayaking\, and mountain biking\, within a supportive and inclusive community. Our programs bring people with disabilities out of the margins and into communities that push them toward more active and healthy lives. Through these programs\, participants with disabilities are empowered to discover their strengths and abilities and everyone discovers that we ALL play a part! \n\nMountain biking is one of the fastest-growing adventure sports in the world and it’s no surprise! The physical health benefits are incredible. Not to mention the sheer thrill and freedom people feel when riding a bike in the woods.  \nUnfortunately\, because of the financial and physical barriers\, without an organization like Catalyst Sports\, the benefits of this incredible sport simply aren’t accessible.  \n\nOur Plan for Growth in Chattanooga:  \nAs Catalyst continues to plant deep roots throughout the southeast\, one particular chapter city that sits poised for growth is Chattanooga\, TN. Over the next year we aim to expand our program offerings in Chattanooga by launching an Adaptive Mountain Biking Program. \n\nWE CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOUR HELP! \n\nThe Catalyst Sports Adaptive Mountain Biking program in Chattanooga will eliminate the physical and financial barriers to provide the necessary equipment\, training\, and support for people with physical disabilities to access the mountains and trails in their backyards. This program will allow individuals to leave their wheelchairs\, walkers\, crutches or any other mobility limitation behind to experience the thrill of mountain biking for the first time or to continue developing their skills.  \n\nWhat’s Needed:  \nIn order to properly accommodate the disabled citizens of Chattanooga in this sport we need to further develop our training materials and provide special off-road capable equipment for those who don’t have use of their legs\, trikes for those with balance issues\, pedal heel cups to help people with low muscle tone keep their feet on the pedals\, and electric-assist motors for those who fatigue easily\, a trailer for transporting equipment to multiple locations and for storage. Therefore\, in order to ensure the most impact and success of this project\, we need to come together to fund the equipment and resources necessary to make this program a reality.  \n\nHow will this program be sustained?  \nCatalyst Sports programs are fueled by the support of community partners and volunteers. Catalyst will provide numerous training opportunities for volunteers. We train around 400 volunteers throughout the year. These volunteers work alongside our staff and commit hundreds of hours to ensure that these accessible adventure programs take place on a regular basis. In addition to those volunteers\, we work closely with many local adventure-based business partners who donate their spaces and services to ensure these programs are executed on a regular basis.  \n\nIt has been determined that having a trailer with bikes preloaded and stored will significantly reduce the amount of time spent on loading and unloading from a separate storage unit. It will also allow guided tours and rentals to happen without the need to transport these large bikes to the trailhead. And Finally\, it will allow individuals to experience places they had never experienced before.  \n\nPlan \nOur plan is to leave the trailer at various locations throughout the year. After 3-5 months the trailer will be moved to a new adaptive trail location to provide variety for the program users.  \nOnce our trailer and fleet have been established\, we will be providing free monthly group rides for participants along with the opportunity to go on private guided tours. \n\nTo help kick start this endeavor\, we are arranging a 2 Day Pilot Program with the support of Lula Lake Land Trust. DESCRIPTION:Beginner and Advanced Mountain Bike Camps – Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra\nThis summer we are hosting two Adaptive Mountain Bike Camps in partnership with Lasher Sports.  With both an advanced and beginner camp we know there is a place for everyone to learn how to ride an aMTB\, and with a fleet of 7+ aMTBs we have a bike that will suit anyone’s ability.   During these camps we will be going over proper equipment\, maintenance and skills. \nThe Beginner Adaptive Mountain Bike Camp starting on July 10th will be going over beginner bike skills and maintenance.  This camp is aimed at providing someone who is new to the sport with everything they need to know to get out onto the trails and recreate responsibly.  Each day will feature a bike ride on the scenic and world class Mammoth Mountain as well as lunch. \nThe Advanced Adaptive Mountain Bike Camp starting on July 12th offers a place for people who have previously rode an Adaptive Mountain Bike to join others for a weekend on Mammoth Mountain.  Our group of experienced instructors will be leading trips out exploring the trails and terrain.  Lunch will be provided each day\, and the knowledgeable staff from Lasher Sports will be with us to share their tips and tricks on the trails. \nBeginnner Adaptive Mountain Bike Camp July 10-12\nAdvanced Adaptive Mountain Bike Camp July 12-14\nAdaptive Mountain Bike Expo July 14\n

DESCRIPTION:The Palos Meltdown is Chicagoland’s premier mountain bike event. This annual event features racing for all ages and abilities and draws riders from all over the region. In it’s tenth consecutive year\, the Meltdown is held as a fundraiser for CAMBr to help build and maintain mountain bike trails in Chicagoland. The race is held on Palos Forest Preserve’s extensive singletrack trail system just half an hour outside of Chicago. The trails are flowy\, fun\, and built with all levels of rider in mind. The event strives to keep a fun family atmosphere while providing a both challenging and fun race experience for first timers to the seasoned elite athlete. \nSnaking\, fast and flowy singletrack is what Palos is known for. The course will meander itself over rolling hills and around lakes and sloughs. Much of the course is on rolling terrain so riders looking for elevation change won’t be disappointed! The course will offer leg stinging climbs and exciting descents. The trails are built for all levels of riding ability. Faster riders will find them much more challenging as obstacles such as ravines and roots become a challenge at speed. \nThe race has an official adaptive division\, so you can be sure the trails will be good for adaptive bikes.

SUMMARY:Adaptive Enduro Race at Bentonville Bikefest
DESCRIPTION:The Enduro at Bikefest in Bentonville\, Arkansas has an adaptive division this year\, presented by Mojo Bicycles!   The race organizers are developing a route specifically for adaptive bikes that will use some of the same trails as the regular Enduro.  The format will be 6-8 short timed sections of around 2 minutes each\, with total distance around 20 miles including the returns and riding to the next timed section.  You can expect a mix of machine groomed and handcut downhill runs as well as challenging technical rock gardens and chunk. \nBikefest is a huge event and it’s awesome that they’re including adaptive riders. \nBikefest runs from May 25th-28th\, with the Enduro scheduled for Sunday\, May 28th. \n@bentonvillebikefest for more info and to register.
