In an effort to make their facility more inclusive for people of all abilities, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is investing in building wider, more accessible trails. They are taking the approach of universal design, making trails accessible for all riders instead of separate trails for adaptive riders or just designating the green trails as adaptive friendly.
They were recently featured in a very well done video showcasing a few riders testing out a newly built universally designed trail called Deepest Darkest. You can see the video in the link below. The trail builders, the resort and adaptive riders collaborated to make sure that the trail was accessible for adaptive riders without removing the fun and challenging elements all riders expect.
Kudos to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, this is exactly the kind of trail design and building the adaptive mountain biking community needs to move the sport forward. Hopefully other organizations and trail builders take note and follow their lead.
