Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is well known for amazing skiing and breathtaking views. During the summer though, the resort shifts gears to focus on mountain biking and warm weather activities. And it is home to one of the best adaptive downhill trails in the country.
What is deepest darkest?
Deepest Darkest runs 1.7 miles down the mountain, providing 825 feet of elevation drop. It has super fast flowy sections, switchback berms and jumps throughout the trail. You’ll have to try to stay focused on the trail, as there are amazing views of the mountains and the valley all the way down.
Is It AMTB Friendly?
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort recently put a lot of effort into making Deepest Darkest more friendly to the adaptive three wheeled bikes. The result is a universal trail that’s challenging and fun for adaptive bikes, without taking anything away from riders of 2 wheeled bikes. The trail is plenty wide and has smooth predictable transitions into and out of the steeply banked berms and switchbacks. For regular bikes it’s rated as a blue intermediate, and I think that’s appropriate for the 3 wheeled bikes as well. To take the trail at higher speeds will require expert skills since some of the turns are steep and sharp, and there is some risk being on the side of a mountain. Kudos to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and let’s hope they continue this great work on other trails.
